Dear Friends, Family, and Compassionate Strangers,

We are reaching out to you on behalf of Avice Charles-Inglis, daughter of Pastor Emmanuel Charles of FBC, St. Lucia. Avice is a devoted leader, sister, daughter, wife, aunty, cousin, in-law, friend, and loving mother of two beautiful children. She has dedicated her life to serving others, working passionately as a social worker, assisting at-risk children find safety and love in caring homes. She is a beloved teacher, counselor, confidant friend, and a cherished member of her faith and home communities.

Avice's commitment to her community is unwavering. She leads the ladies ministries and directs the DVBS children's ministries at her church, and is a vital part of the worship team. Her nurturing spirit and dedication to education have made a significant impact on countless lives in St. Lucia.

Unfortunately, Avice's health has taken a severe turn in the past months. About a week ago, she lost feeling in her legs and lower extremities and is now unable to walk. She is currently receiving care at the OKEU Hospital in St. Lucia, where her medical expenses are rapidly mounting. The financial burden is overwhelming, and we are seeking your assistance to support her on this challenging journey.

Avice has always been a beacon of hope and strength for others. Now, she needs our help to regain her mobility and continue her mission of helping those in need. Your generous contributions will go directly towards her medical expenses, rehabilitation, and any necessary modifications to her home to accommodate her condition.

We kindly ask you to join us in supporting Avice during this difficult time. Any donation, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in her recovery process. Please share Avice's story with your networks and keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support.

With heartfelt gratitude,

The Charles Family of St. Lucia, Maryland, and Panama

Update, 08/30/24

Hello compassionate supporters, friends, and relatives,

Thank you for your continued love and support. Avice is still fighting, and we have some updates to share with you.

On July 19th, 2024, Avice was transported via air ambulance to Cali, Colombia, accompanied by her husband. She has been receiving medical care from an interdisciplinary team of oncologists, nurses, physiotherapists, nutritionists, and psychologists. We are happy to report that Avice is stable and making progress in both pain management and chemotherapy. Her doctors describe her as a strong woman with unshakable faith.

Avice and her family are deeply grateful for your unwavering financial support. So far, fundraising efforts have raised approximately US$8,000 locally and US$4,200 through the Spotfund crowd fundraiser. While in St. Lucia, your contributions covered medical examinations, the purchase of medical supplies, and caretaker costs for Avice. Recent donations have been used to transport Avice to Cali and to cover medical expenses while in Colombia. We continue to trust in God's provision as He continues to meet her medical needs in Colombia.

Avice's recovery journey is a testament to the power of prayer, faith, community, resilience, and determination. Despite facing significant medical challenges, she has embraced every step of the healing process with unwavering strength and faith. Your prayers and support have been crucial to her progress.

Avice will continue her medical care in Colombia, trusting God for complete healing. Thank you for your kindness, prayers, and support. Please continue to keep Avice, her husband, and her children in your thoughts and prayers.

With heartfelt gratitude, love, and appreciation,

The Charles and Inglis Families

Hello supporters,

Thank you for your love and support. Avice was admitted to the OKEU hospital on 28th May 2024 after a fall that left her without lower limb movement.

Update:

A Lymph Node Biopsy was performed, and the Histology Report released on the 20th of June 2024 confirmed the presence of lymphoma at an advanced stage. This diagnosis has been a profound shock and a challenging journey for her and all of us who love her dearly. Avice is still hospitalized at the OKEU hospital in St. Lucia and is presently in a stable condition. She remains prayerful, hopeful and optimistic.

Contributions:

We want to take this opportunity to thank those who contributed, called, visited, prayed, and provided support to Avice, her husband, children, and extended family members. Approximately, US$2,000.00 was raised locally and US$1,873.00 was raised online through the Spotfund crowd fundraiser. Contributions have been used to cover Avice’s medical tests, medical supplies, and caretaker costs, as Avice needs round-the-clock care from a nurse aide. We thank God for all of you. We appreciate each of you.

Next steps:

Avice is scheduled to receive specialized treatment in Cali, Colombia. She will be airlifted from St. Lucia to Cali, Colombia accompanied by her husband on Friday July 19. Her total out-of-pocket medical expense in Colombia is approximately US$50,000. To transport her to the medical facility in Colombia, we must secure an air ambulance, which costs an additional US$9,950.00. This brings our total fundraising goal to US$60,000.

We are committed to providing updates every other week on Avice's progress and the status of our fundraising efforts. Thank you for your kindness, your prayers, and your support. Continue to keep Avice and her family in your thoughts and prayers.

With heartfelt gratitude, love, and appreciation,
The Charles and Inglis families
