My name is Antonina LaBrie and I am hosting this fundraiser on behalf of my friend, Mohammed Amer.
He is the eldest son of the family. He is currently living with 10 family members which include his parents, grandfather, great uncle, a sister and brothers. The family’s ages range from 10 years old to 85 years old.
They have been displaced multiple times between Khan Younis, Rafah and Al-Mawsi.
Their home was taken over by the IDF and everything inside was destroyed. They are currently living in his uncle’s home.
Before October 7th, Mohammed was studying accounting. The IDF has destroyed all universities and schools in Gaza leaving the dream of continuing education just a dream for the foreseeable future.
The IDF has destroyed so much in Gaza that it will take years to rebuild and may never fully recover.
There are no jobs or way of making a living. They have gone without food too many times to count.
They are hard working people who wish nothing more than to be able to support themselves and have a good future. They know that they cannot continue to survive on aid and donations. Frankly, they do not want this for themselves.
Mohammed and his brother Mahdi have made the incredibly difficult decision to leave Gaza when then Rafah border opens so they can find work to support the family and build a future.
It is estimated that it will cost $5,000 US each adult to cross into Egypt and then they will need to travel to Europe where they will obtain jobs.
They are proud people who do not want to leave Palestine and certainly do not want to be asking for help but they are left with no choice.
