Many immigrant families have missed work and income as a result of the recent events in the Twin Cities. In addition to feeling unsafe and unwelcome, many are now facing difficulties paying their rent. Funds raised through this effort will be used to provide direct rent assistance to Murray Middle School families experiencing housing instability or financial hardship. Our goal is to get help to families quickly and respectfully, during a time when many are facing unexpected challenges.
All funds raised will be passed directly to families for rent support or other immediate needs.
This is a short-term, community-led mutual aid effort rooted in care, trust, and solidarity. We are grateful for any support you’re able to offer and for helping us show up for our neighbors.
This was organized by a group of involved parents and Murray Middle School staff, organizing outside of the school day and independent of the district, who want to support families in our school community who have been affected by recent events in the Twin Cities.
As of February 3, we have helped 13 families with rent. We know these needs are not stopping yet and we are committed to continuing to support our families.
