The purpose of this fundraiser is to recognize, support, and show appreciation to the local Stamford Police Department and the Bristol Police Department.
On October 12, 2022, three (3) Bristol Police Officers were ambushed with gunfire after responding to a fabricated 9-1-1 call. Sergeant Dustin DeMonte and Officer Alex Hamzy were killed in this ambush, and Officer Alec Iurato was severely injured before fatally wounding the assailant with a single, precise shot from his handgun.
In the wake of this tragedy, a close relationship was formed between members of the Stamford Police Department's Special Response Team (SRT) and members of the Bristol Police Department who serve on the Central Region Emergency Response Team (CRERT). Members of both tactical teams have routinely engaged in joint training exercises that have mutually benefited both agencies and the communities they serve.
The money raised through this campaign will be utilized exclusively to fund future training opportunities and equipment acquisitions for the Stamford SRT and the Central Region ERT.
