Help Emily Start Her Journey at Buffalo State University
This past year has been a whirlwind for our family, and my daughter Emily has shown a resilience and determination that inspires me every day.
Emily is a bright, hardworking young woman with big dreams for her future. She will be majoring in English Education at Buffalo State University, with the goal of becoming a teacher and inspiring the next generation.
But this year, life threw her some difficult challenges. She lost both her great-grandmother and grandmother within months of each other. Both passed away out of state, and the travel required to be with family meant Emily missed a significant amount of school. She fell behind in her classes and, despite her best efforts, didn’t graduate in June with her peers.
For many, this would have been the end of the road. But not for Emily. She attended her class graduation anyway — not for herself, but to cheer on her friends. Then she dug deep, stayed focused, and completed her final class (chemistry!) in summer school — just in time to start this fall semester at Buffalo State University.
The school worked with her to make her dream of attending college a reality, but there’s still one hurdle: the first tuition payment. Due to my recent job loss and the fact that I’ve only been with my new company for six months after 24 years with my previous employer, our family came up short on financial aid and student loan approvals. We need to raise about $2,000 so Emily can begin her college journey without the weight of financial stress.
Emily has been working steadily for over a year and was even able to transfer her job to Buffalo so she can continue supporting herself while in school. She’s ready to work hard and chase her dreams — she just needs a little boost to get started.
We’ve set up this GoFundMe so that family, friends, and anyone inspired by her story can help Emily take this important first step. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference in helping her start strong at Buffalo State and focus on her studies.
Thank you for taking the time to read Emily’s story, and thank you in advance for any support you can give.
Let’s help Emily turn the page and begin this exciting new chapter!
