Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters,
I am reaching out with an urgent request for help on behalf of a very close friend who is taking the courageous and critical steps to escape a dangerous and abusive situation. For her safety and the safety of her son, I have chosen to keep her identity anonymous, as revealing it could place them in even greater danger from the abuser.
For years, she has endured emotional, mental, and physical abuse at the hands of her husband. Recently, his threats escalated to the point where he told her he had been contemplating killing her—right in front of their young son. This is an abuser who owns firearms and has a history of playing with them. Fearing for their lives, she fled that day to a hotel to protect herself and her child.
Unfortunately, shelters are at capacity, and the waiting lists are long. With no place to turn, she was forced to sneak back into the home while the abuser was unaware, locking herself and her son in a bedroom to sleep in secret, only to leave before he woke. She has been working closely with a domestic abuse organization to secure legal protection and make arrangements for a safer future. But she is alone, without local family support, and is struggling financially—both from years of financial abuse within the marriage and the sudden costs of securing safety.
She urgently needs help to cover the following expenses:
- Rent and Security Deposit for a new, safe home for her and her son
- Childcare to ensure her son is cared for while she navigates this transition
- Moving Expenses to relocate to safety
- Legal Fees to ensure she has the necessary protection and to fight for her rights
The Situation: In her efforts to stay safe, she has pieced together hotel stays and has relied on out-of-state friends who are offering support. She has been forced to make payments for the lease on the home that she can no longer safely live in, alongside bills needed to keep her and her son protected. At this point, she has exhausted all financial resources, including maxing out credit lines, and is in urgent need of your help.
The Immediate Need:
We are aiming to raise $5,000 to cover:
- Housing for her and her son
- Legal fees for protective orders and other necessary services
- Essential moving and relocation costs to ensure their safety
Domestic violence affects 1 in 3 women, and every day, 4 women die due to abuse. A woman is beaten every 15 seconds in the U.S., and 35% of all emergency room visits are related to domestic violence—the leading cause of injury for women in this country. While my friend is a part of this devastating statistic, we believe her future can be different with our help.
Please consider making a donation, no matter how small, to help this brave woman and her son rebuild their lives in safety. Your financial contribution will directly support their immediate needs and give them the chance to start over without fear. We are also deeply grateful for those who share this request to spread the word.
Thank you so much for your kindness, generosity, and support during this critical time. God bless you.
With heartfelt gratitude,
