Douglas Pernell III, affectionately known as “Chip”, is a husband; son; father; grandfather; brother; uncle; nephew; cousin; friend and a dedicated public servant who has spent over 20 years working in the prison system, currently serving the State of Georgia.
Chip was born on August 30, 1971 and serves with the Georgia Department of Corrections as Captain and Chief of Security. Throughout his life and career, he has carried tremendous responsibility and has dedicated himself to protecting and serving others.
Now, he and his family are battling something no one ever wants to go up against.
Sadly, Chip was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 stomach cancer, then upon further review, his medical team discovered that he also had a lymph node near his neck that is also cancerous, thus elevating his diagnosis to Stage 4.
Currently, he is navigating treatment and everything that comes with a fight such as this one. As his immediate family supports him in what is undoubtedly one of the most difficult seasons of his life, we do what we know, rally and pray.
This disease affects more than someone’s health, it affects income, work, household expenses, insurance deductibles and countless unexpected costs that will arise along the journey.
We are asking family, friends, colleagues, community members and anyone whose heart has been touched by Chip, to stand with him and his family.
Every contribution, no matter the amount, will make a difference. Funds raised will go directly to and be used by Chip and his family to help meet the needs that arise throughout this journey, including medical expenses, medications, deductibles, transportation needs (gas), food, household bills and other necessities.
If you are unable to give financially, sharing this fundraiser, praying for Chip, or simply reaching out with encouragement is also incredibly meaningful.
This guy has a heart as big as the widest sea and his love for people knows no limits. Please join us in surrounding him and his family with prayers, love, encouragement and support.
Every share matters. Every prayer is counted. Every contribution helps ease the financial burden that can add to an already stressful time.
Thank you in advance and God bless each person who reads this passage.
