I've spent 10+ years working in the grooming industry, and throughout that time, I've learned not only how much I love this work, but also what I believe a grooming salon should be.
Grooming is incredibly rewarding, but it is also physically demanding work. Groomers spend hours on their feet, lifting, bending, handling equipment, and working carefully with dogs of different sizes, temperaments, ages, and needs. Yet many grooming businesses are managed by people who have never been groomers themselves and may not fully understand what groomers need in order to do their jobs safely, comfortably, and well.
I want to change that.
My goal is to open a grooming salon built around the well-being of both the groomers who work there and the clients and dogs who trust us with their care. I want to create an environment where groomers feel supported, listened to, and given the time and resources they need to provide quality care without being pushed to rush through appointments.
One of the most important parts of my vision is true one-on-one grooming.
If a dog is scheduled for a two-and-a-half-hour appointment, that time belongs to that dog. The groomer would not be expected to stop in the middle of the appointment to take a walk-in nail trim, check in another dog, or juggle multiple dogs at once. I don't want dogs sitting and waiting while their groomer has to repeatedly shift their attention elsewhere.
Instead, I want each groomer to be able to focus on the dog in front of them from check-in through completion.
I believe that approach can create a calmer experience for the dog, a more personal experience for the owner, and a healthier working environment for the groomer. It also gives groomers the opportunity to take pride in their work rather than feeling pressured to simply get as many dogs through the salon as possible.
The people who bring their dogs to us should feel cared for, too. I want clients to know who is working with their dog, feel comfortable asking questions, and know that their pet isn't simply another appointment on a crowded schedule. I want to build relationships with the people and animals who walk through our doors.
At the same time, I want the groomers working beside me to know that they matter just as much as the clients we serve.
That part of this dream is deeply personal to me.
Throughout my career, I've experienced what it feels like when productivity is prioritized over the physical well-being of the groomer. I've communicated physical limitations and still been expected to push beyond them. I've seen how easily legitimate concerns can be treated as complaints rather than signs that an employee needs support.
I don't want to continue that cycle.
I want my groomers to know that when they tell me something hurts, they're heard. When they establish a physical limitation, it's respected. When they say they need additional time with a dog, they're trusted to know what they need to do their job safely and properly.
As the business grows, one of my goals is to invest in benefits and resources that support the physical health of my employees. Grooming takes a tremendous toll on the hands, wrists, shoulders, backs, knees, and feet. I would love to eventually provide access to resources that help my groomers take care of their bodies, whether that's stronger healthcare benefits, wellness resources, preventative care, or other forms of physical support.
I don't want someone to sacrifice their body by overworking just to prove that they're a hardworking employee.
I'm not trying to build the busiest grooming salon. I'm trying to build the kind of grooming salon I have always wanted to work in: personable, compassionate, professional, and centered around giving groomers enough time to do their jobs properly while giving every dog the individual attention they deserve.
And that's where I'm asking for your help.
I'm not asking you to simply fund a business. I'm asking you to believe in what this business could become.
I'm asking you to believe that groomers deserve workplaces where their voices matter. That quality should matter more than how many dogs can be pushed through a schedule in one day. That clients deserve the service they're promised. And that the people caring for our animals deserve to be cared for, too.
If you've ever had a groomer you love, if you've ever trusted someone with a dog who means the world to you, or if you simply believe employees deserve to be treated like people rather than numbers, I hope you'll believe in this dream with me.
Every donation, no matter the amount, would help me move closer to creating this salon.
And if you're unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean just as much to me.
After more than a decade of grooming for other businesses, I'm ready to take everything this industry has taught me and use it to build something better.
Not only for myself.
For the groomers who deserve better, the clients who expect better, and the dogs at the center of everything we do.
Where Your Donation Will Go
Every dollar raised through this fundraiser will go toward bringing this grooming salon to life and creating the kind of environment I've described above.
Funds will help cover the costs associated with securing and preparing a location, purchasing professional grooming equipment, stocking the salon, and providing the resources necessary to open and operate safely and professionally.
Donations may help fund:
*Securing and preparing a location, including deposits, initial rent, necessary renovations, plumbing, electrical work, signage, and other expenses required to make the space suitable for a professional grooming salon.
*Professional grooming equipment, including grooming tubs, grooming tables, canine dryers, tool carts, kennels, safety equipment, and other equipment needed for each grooming station.
*Grooming products and everyday supplies, including professional shampoos and conditioners, facial products, towels, dental-care supplies, cotton products, Happy Hoodies, and other supplies used to keep dogs comfortable and properly cared for throughout their appointments.
*Cleaning and sanitation supplies, including the products and equipment needed to maintain a clean and sanitary environment for our dogs, clients, and staff.
*Business startup expenses, including licensing, permits, insurance, scheduling and payment systems, administrative equipment, and other costs associated with legally and responsibly opening the salon.
*Employee-focused equipment and resources, including ergonomic and safety-focused items that can help make grooming physically easier on the people doing this demanding work.
*Initial operating expenses, helping the salon remain stocked, staffed, and operational while we establish our clientele and build a sustainable business.
My goal is to be thoughtful with every dollar contributed. These funds aren't intended for personal expenses. They are intended to help secure the space, purchase the equipment, stock the salon, prepare for opening, and create a strong foundation for the business.
And part of building that foundation means taking care of the groomers who will make this salon possible.
I want to invest in equipment and resources that make their jobs safer and more comfortable from the beginning. As the business becomes established and financially able to do so, my long-term goal is to continue expanding the benefits and wellness resources available to my team.
Your donation isn't just helping purchase a grooming table or fill a shelf with shampoo.
It's helping me build a workplace where groomers can have the tools, time, support, and respect they need to do their best work, and where every dog receives the individual care they deserve.
My $100,000 Goal
My fundraising goal is $100,000, which would help cover the significant costs involved in securing, equipping, and opening a professional brick-and-mortar grooming salon.
I know $100,000 is a big goal. I don't expect one person to make this dream happen, and I don't expect every person who comes across this fundraiser to be able to donate. This is about what can happen when many people choose to believe in an idea together.
Every contribution moves the business one step closer to becoming real.
A $10 donation could help purchase everyday grooming or sanitation supplies. A $25 or $50 donation could help stock products that will eventually be used to care for the dogs who come through our doors. Larger contributions could help us move closer to purchasing professional equipment, preparing grooming stations, securing a location, and handling the many startup expenses required before we can welcome our first client.
And if you can't donate, sharing this fundraiser is another meaningful way to help. One share could put this story in front of someone who believes that groomers deserve better working environments and that dogs deserve thoughtful, individualized care.
I am asking for $100,000 because I want to give this business a strong foundation from the beginning, rather than building a workplace around the same pressures and compromises I'm trying to change.
Every dollar raised will be dedicated to the startup and development of the grooming business, including securing and preparing a location, professional grooming equipment, supplies, licensing and insurance, business systems, employee-focused equipment and resources, and the initial operating costs necessary to get the salon established.
Whether you donate, share this fundraiser, or simply tell someone about the idea, you're helping me take another step toward opening these doors.
And when they finally open, I want them to lead into a salon where the dogs are cared for, the clients are valued, and the groomers know that they matter too.
I'm Investing in This Dream, Too
While I'm asking for help through this fundraiser, I want to make something very clear: I'm not asking others to build this dream for me.
I'm working toward it right alongside everyone who chooses to support me.
I am continuing to work, save, plan, research, and contribute my own money toward opening this salon. The $100,000 fundraising goal represents help toward the significant startup costs of securing a location, preparing the space, purchasing professional equipment and supplies, and establishing the business. It does not represent the only effort or investment I plan to make.
I'm willing to put in the work because I believe deeply in what I'm trying to create.
Every dollar I'm able to save and contribute myself brings me closer. Every donation brings me closer. Every person who shares this fundraiser brings me closer.
I don't expect strangers, friends, family, clients, or fellow groomers to simply hand me a business. I'm asking people who believe in this vision to help me build one alongside the work I'm already putting in.
My goal is to take more than 10 years of experience, everything this industry has taught me, and my own financial contribution and turn it into something sustainable: a salon where dogs receive true one-on-one care, clients feel valued, and groomers are treated like skilled professionals whose health, time, and voices matter.
I'm committed to doing my part.
If you choose to contribute, you're helping me take what I'm already working toward and move it one step closer to becoming real.
Thank you so much for believing in this dream with me!
