It was 10:15 this Tuesday night as I was getting ready for bed. I was on call so I stayed at work late to catch up. Now, I usually go to bed at 8:30 so I was really surprised when the Michael McDonald started singing from inside my phone. "Hello, this is Mary Lynn", to which I hear this long pregnant pause. By the number, I knew it must have been one of our Georgia nurses. Someone finally spoke and said MaryLynn, this is Jill. Normally, Jill is jovial, upbeat and if you are not laughing, you are not listening. I knew something was wrong when I heard her voice. A defeated sounding Jill spoke up and said,"I have lost everything tonight." She goes on the explain that a flash flood came rolling through Marietta and decided to stick around long enough to flood her entire home. The water throughout her house was just below the door nobs, her cat was caught under the bed drowning, and in a matter of minutes her life was destroyed. No home, no meds, no computer. But she says, "I still have my life." There's the Jill I know! She's still in there somewhere!
If you are from the hot and humid south, you hear this story and ask yourself how long you have until your number is up. Let's face it, our blessed southern summers can see some serious weather.!
I am sending this out to ask you to take a look at all the stuff around you and be thankful and blessed. If you could make a contribution you would bless her as well. I thank you all for your generosity!
