We adopted Artemis and her brother Apollo right before Christmas, but they turned out to be the gift that keeps on giving. We adopted the babies from a local Petsmart, that had gotten them from Last Chance Rescue in Maryland. According to their paperwork, both kittens were desexed and ready to go home! Our home vet was suspicious that Apollo might still have some "boys in the barn" at their first checkup, but Last Chance insisted that they were fixed. Well, Artemis' positive pregnancy test proved that was a lie. Unplanned pregnancy is stressful in any case, and the strain on our finances was certainly unexpected!
As of right now, the rescue that failed to care for them properly has refused to cover any medical care unless we go to their vet in Maryland. Obviously, we don't want to truck kittens across state lines, and we frankly don't trust them even if they were local. As it stands, we're still responsible for all her medical bills and pregnancy supplies. They're turning out to be even more expensive than anticipated. Your generosity continues to be appreciated!
