Aloha, my name is Mark and my wife’s name is Sarah. 15 years ago I took the biggest chance of my life and left NY, everyone & everything I knew. Wasn’t sure what was going to happen but I was willing to give it all I had. Fast forward 10 years and I met the most beautiful woman of my dreams. She agreed to leave her home in AZ and mo e her to be with me. This has been our home together now for the last 4 years.
As some of you may know August 8, 2023, the morning of the fire on Maui the power went out at 4am. My wife was headed to work and the said she passed the fire. With no knowledge of how bad it was or was going to get. No power and stuck in traffic for over an he myself trying to get anywhere. I was turned around by police. Cell service was disconnected and my wife and I were separated by raging fires. Not knowing where my wife was or what was about to happen, mind starts racing. What can I do? Where can I go? How do I do anything? I need to get to my wife!!!!
This unbelievable destruction raged through our little town of Lahaina. The next thing I know is ITS ALL GONE!!!
the town I knew and loved for 15 years, now reduced to ashes. Animals in the rd way burned, people in their cars burned, people on the streets burned. The aftermath is absolutely horrific, something you could never imagine happening or ever seeing in your life time. The fire so hot it melted metals as officials stated. Bodies not even recognizable, simply reduced to ashes. Family’s huddled together in what used to be a home. Children protecting their siblings piled together in the remains of their homes. The words simply can not describe the scene in detail.
I only ask for your prayers for the 100’s of lost souls. The children that will no longer play in the sand on the beach. The birthdays they won’t have again… the pain is so deep in my heart.
I am grateful that my wife and I we reunited after 3days and I was able to bring here daughter back to her safe as well. The real test begins now as we pick up the pieces and rebuild our lives and our home town.
