Help us create a scholarship in Mark "Leon" Laesch's name within the Beechwood Education Foundation.
This scholarship, awarded annually, seeks to recognize the undergraduate Phi Gamma Delta, Zeta "Fiji" Chapter member who best exemplifies and promotes brotherhood within the undergraduate chapter, as well as maintaining a 3.0 GPA or better and active in the intramural sports program.
Before passing on March 4, 2017, and throughout a courageous battle with ALS, Mark worked tirelessly to encourage the strong bonds of brotherhood and fellowship amongst those he knew and those he came in contact with. On December 3, 2016, Mark participated in the ceremonies officially dedicating the new Fiji House at Indiana University. Despite his grave illness at the time, Mark spoke eloquently and emotionally about the virtues of brotherhood within the fraternity, and in a memorable closing simply stated, βThis brotherhood thing is real.β
Aside from being an active and beloved member of the Zeta Fiji Fraternity, Mark was an All Big Ten baseball player at Indiana University, an avid golfer and founder of Golfstat, recognized nationally by College Golf Coaches, Golfweek and the Golf Channel as the company that helped transform college golf.
Help us honor Mark's life by supporting this scholarship and fostering brotherhood in his name. Thank you.
(Beechwood Education Foundation requires a minimum of $25,000 to start an annual scholarship)
