Help Me Give My Dad a Safe Place to Call Home
Asking for help has never been easy for me, but right now I’m putting my pride aside for my dad.
My dad recently moved here from California after spending 66 years living in the desert. After more than 30 years of us not living near each other, life has brought him here, and I’ve suddenly found myself trying to help him through one of the hardest chapters of his life.
Right now, the house he is staying in does not have running water. He also needs a wheelchair/walker-accessible ramp built off the front of the house so he can safely get in and out. With his mobility problems, the stairs simply aren’t safe for him.
On top of all of that, he is waiting for financial assistance through Mercy. His wound clinic visits cost 200 + a visits and we go once a week. Bottom line, I need help.. my wife and I are raising 4 children of our own and now all of this has landed on us.
I’m doing everything I can to get things handled one problem at a time, but this is bigger than what I can realistically take care of by myself.
The money raised here will go toward:
- Getting running water restored to his home
- Materials and construction for a safe accessibility ramp
- Medical care and medications while we work through his insurance situation
- Other basic necessities needed to make his home safe and livable
I don't expect anyone to fix this for us. I'm just asking for a little help carrying the load.
If you know me, you know I'm much more comfortable being the person helping somebody else than being the person asking for help. But sometimes you've got to swallow your pride and admit when you can't do everything alone.

My goal is simple: give my dad a safe home, get water running, give him a way to safely get through his own front door, and make sure he gets the care he needs.
