I have severe RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis) going on 26 years. I'm currently employed. However, my place of employment does not offer health insurance and I can't afford health insurance out of pocket due to I have a "pre-existing" condition and health coverage is $500/mos. (even if I go through govt. assistance).
I currently take Enbrel for my RA which is $9,574K a month out-of-pocket (for a 4 mos. supply). Due to my current yearly salary is only $45K/per year, I will be eligible to qualify to get my Enbrel medication at no cost (based on my low income) through a foundation called "Safetynet". However, I won't qualify for the Safetynet assistance program until January 2027. I’m requesting $9,574K to pay for my Enbrel for Sept - Dec 2026. The Enbrel stops my RA disease from spreading further to my joints and also acts as a pain killer. Without the medicine, my RA will progressively get worse and I'm currently experiencing stiffness, locked joints in my hands, redness in feet and hands and flare-ups due to I'm currently out of the Enbrel and been off my medication going on 30 days.
