I'm Samantha Markham, your reigning Miss Northeast. The Miss Indiana organization is joining with the AHA GO RED x Miss America collaboration, which is on a mission to make a meaningful impact in two crucial areas: educational scholarships and heart disease research.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. By partnering with the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women initiative and the Miss America Scholarship Foundation, we're not just raising funds; we're paving the way for a brighter, healthier future for Americans.
I have personally worked with two recipients of heart transplants during my service with Donate Life Indiana. Heart health is not only important for our personal health, but it is important for health of those in need who we can impact as organ donors.

Miss America and Miss America's Teen National Scholarships are awarded by a separate non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, the Miss America's Scholarship Foundation Inc. This collaboration provides funds for national awards, and in addition, both Miss America's/Miss America's Teen State Scholarships and the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women movement. The American Heart Association's Go Red for Women is Miss America's Scholarship Foundation's national health thought leader. All above mentioned entities are 501(c)(3) organizations and all donations to this campaign are fully tax-deductible per IRS regulations.
