Support Brandon’s Recovery and Road Ahead
On Monday, July 28th, my brother-in-law Brandon experienced a sudden and severe medical emergency—a seizure at work that led to him being mercy-flighted to Buffalo General. This was his first seizure ever, and it left our family in shock. Brandon was intubated for several days while doctors searched for answers. After being extubated on Wednesday, he began experiencing what appeared to be absence seizures. He was officially diagnosed with epilepsy shortly after.
As part of this diagnosis, This creates a major challenge for him, as he was scheduled to begin a new job as an Advanced EMT in South Carolina in just two weeks—a position located 30 minutes from his new home.
Brandon and my brother Andrew had just sold their house in New York and purchased a new one in South Carolina, excited for the next chapter of their lives. Andrew recently relocated on his own to begin the police academy, chasing his dream of becoming a police officer after years of serving as an EMT and dispatcher.
Both of these men have built their lives around serving others—Brandon as an Advanced EMT, and Andrew through emergency services and now law enforcement.
Now, they are facing an overwhelming amount of uncertainty. Brandon’s future employment is on hold, the medical bills are piling up, and their ability to cover the costs of their new home is in jeopardy.
