Hi All,
I see birthday fundraisers all of the time, so I thought I'd do one for my 40th birthday.
As you may know, we have family and friends in Ukraine, some of whom are active military. Since February, we have been sending what help we can, and I would like to use my birthday as a fundraising opportunity.
First: these funds will not be - and have not been - used to purchase weapons and ammunition.
The fighting of a war takes more than just weapons. Previously, funds have been used to purchase food, clothing, and other essentials. We helped purchase a refrigerator in the spring, so that food didn't go bad in the heat. The refrigerator is now in service at a hospital in Ukraine.

These birthday funds will be used towards the purchase of a truck for our close friend Alexander. He is currently on the front lines in Donbas.

If you look at a map, Donbas might be considered the center of the Ukrainian line. Earlier this year Ukraine was able to re-take a large amount of land north of Donbas, in the Kharkiv region. You are probably also aware of current operations near Kherson, on the southern front. While the northern and southern operations have taken back land that was occupied by the Russians, the fighting in Donbas is a battle of attrition: trench warfare and constant artillery fire characterize this fight.
Alexander's unit lost their truck and, unfortunately, they also took casualties. Too much Ukrainian blood has been shed.

Since I'm turning 40 - can we hit $400...could we do more? I will match the first $100 donated.
