From Feeding Tube to First Bites: Nova’s 8-Week Journey
💛 Meet Nova
My daughter Nova is one of the strongest little girls I know.
Since birth, she has faced more than most. Nova has a rare genetic disorder called ReNU syndrome, which has led to intellectual disability, seizures, global developmental delay, and severe feeding difficulties.
Things that come naturally to other children—learning, growing, eating—have required constant support, therapy, and care for Nova.
Right now, she relies on a feeding tube to get the nutrition her body needs.
But we have hope.
✨ A Life-Changing Opportunity
Nova has been accepted into an intensive 8-week feeding therapy program that helps children learn how to eat by mouth.
Families travel from all over the world for this program because of its success.
For Nova, this could mean:
•Learning to eat food by mouth
•Reducing or even eliminating her feeding tube
•Gaining independence
•Improving her overall health and development
This isn’t just therapy—it’s a chance to change the course of her life.
💔 Why We Need Help
I am a single mother of three, doing everything I can to care for my children while navigating Nova’s complex medical needs.
So much of what Nova needs—therapies, care, and support—is not covered by insurance, leaving us to carry the financial burden on our own.
To give her this opportunity, I will need to:
•Take 8 weeks off work
•Temporarily relocate for her treatment
•Care for all three of my children during this time
The cost of this program is $3,500 per week ($28,000 total)—and it is not covered by insurance.
On top of that, we will need to cover:
•Housing during our stay
•Food and daily living expenses
•Travel and time away from work
It’s overwhelming—but I cannot pass up this chance for her.
