We adopted Minnie from a local non-profit rescue October of 2023 at 10 months old. She turned 1 in March of this year. Since coming into our home, she has grown out of her scared shell into a fun, goofy, sweet little girl. At the encouragement of our foster, we started crating her when we would both (my husband and I) be out of the house, as she was prone to accidents if we were gone at the same time. We made sure the crate we had was the right size. She went right into the crate and had no issues. At first. We then started noticing she was hunching more and her back legs were looking funny as she walked. She has been running, jumping and playing with her brother just fine, but we were noticing the issues were more prevalent after she got out of the crate. To be clear, we only crated her if both of us were at out and never for longer than 4 hours. We were very diligent about not leaving her in there for an extended period of time. We made the decision to stop crate training and her legs seems to improve slightly. Well, we brought it to the vet's attention at her check up and we had X-rays done. She will need an orthopedic consult and surgery. Her quality of life has been called into question with the current condition of her knees and slight hip dysplasia that was found on the X-rays. We need help. We cannot afford ANY treatment right now, let alone a surgery. My husband had surgery earlier in the year and is still recovering and I found myself suddenly unemployed for almost three months this year. We need to ask for the generosity of others to help us make sure Minnie has a long and full life with us. Anything helps, so please do not feel you have to donate a huge amount. We appreciate anything you can give. Thank you!!
