My sweet Sable May was recently seen in the vet for lethargy and not eating.
She got a blood panel, and two indicators pointed towards FIP.
She was discharged home for the weekend for close monitoring and with a liquid oral antibiotic. I was to call on Sunday if she was getting worse
Sunday came, and she was doing better! She was staying awake for longer periods of time and even took to her bowl of dry food unprompted. I relayed this to the vet on Sunday, and she wanted to continue with the antibiotic at home and keep our follow-up appointment that’s scheduled on the 27th.
We went to bed happy and hopeful.
Monday morning comes and there’s a noticeable drop in her energy. I call and they tell me to bring her in.
I was met with a new vet, who ordered more blood work and xrays.
Her blood work came back worse and her xrays broke my heart. Both of her tiny lungs are full of fluid.
They referred me to their partner ER to hospitalize her over the night and to be seen by a specialist in the morning, to drain the fluid and test it.
I opted to bring her home, so we can have a night together.
I was quoted $6000. I cannot do that alone. I have already spent what I could on the two visits.
I do not want to lose my sweet girl because of money, so I am swallowing my pride and asking for help.
She is scheduled to be seen tomorrow morning, 8/25, with the specialist.
