The Story:
In this mystical tale of mystery and grief, Hattie begins her story in a difficult situation. Lost on a forest hike, she comes face to face with her battle for survival and her past, entangled together. One by one, some trivial and some significant objects from her past, thought to be lost forever, are found in these woods. Lured and enchanted by reclaiming pieces of her past, Hattie forges on without knowledge of the lurking creature shadowing her and her journey, deeper and farther into the forest.
The Team:
The mutual love of film brought this Los Angeles team together.
Producer Keeyana, Editor Natalie and I participated in Pepperdine's summer film program in Australia. We bonded over making our short film in Sydney. I met our cinematographer Mark on a few Made for Television movies after college. When I wrote this script, I thought of each of these key people because of their passion for film, their talent, humble attitudes, and kindness towards others.
Since graduating from Pepperdine, Keeyana and I have worked together on Lifetime's "Secret Society of Lies" where she worked as associate producer and on the new documentary "The Strike" as production coordinator.
I previously worked with our cinematographer Mark on projects for Black Entertainment Television (BET), Roku, and the Oscar-qualifying short film "Sarajin."
Natalie, our editor, has worked as assistant editor on Apple TV's "Shrinking" and as apprentice editor of the Searchlight theatrical movie "Chevalier."
I am so excited we are on this journey together.
The Ask:
My team and I are asking you to partner with us to bring Stray, our short film, to life. We finished production in Nashville, Tennessee in August, and are seeking contributions to make our film as professional as possible. Existing contributions have gone towards elements such as equipment, insurance costs, funding local cast and crew hires, and more. Every dollar you contribute will help us bring our vision to the life! Additionally, anyone who contributes $100 or more will receive a special thanks in the credits. Anyone who contributes $500 or more will receive an associate producer credit. A donation of $1,000 or more will receive an executive producer credit.
Now that principal photography is complete, we are in the post production process. Any donation going forward will help fund editing, sound design, scoring, and festival application fees and requirements.
