Joseph & Dawn – Defying Limits Together

Joseph, age 76, and Dawn, age 43, have both qualified for the UTMB Mont Blanc OCC 50K, one of the most prestigious and challenging trail races in the world. After entering a lottery with only a one-in-ten chance of being selected, both earned the opportunity to compete in Chamonix, France, alongside some of the world's best trail runners.

Their journey began at StretchLab, where a professional relationship grew into a friendship and dedicated training partnership. What started with local 5Ks and 10Ks evolved into a much bigger dream after completing a half marathon in Big Bear Lake—a race that changed their perspective on what was possible.

Today, they spend countless hours training on mountain trails, climbing thousands of feet in elevation, building strength, improving mobility, and preparing for the demands of racing in the Alps. Their training has taken them from the deserts of Arizona to the mountains of Payson and Flagstaff, all in preparation for the challenge that awaits them in Chamonix.

For Joseph, qualifying at 76 years old is proof that age does not determine what is possible. His discipline, determination, and willingness to continue pursuing difficult goals inspire everyone around him. He hopes to become the first American his age to complete the OCC 50K, demonstrating that extraordinary achievements have no expiration date.

For Dawn, this journey represents far more than a race.

As a recovering addict with over seven years of sobriety, she has spent years rebuilding her life. Along the way, she has battled depression, anxiety, and the challenges that often accompany recovery. Trail running became more than a sport—it became a path toward healing.

The trails taught her resilience. The mountains taught her confidence. Long hours on rugged terrain became a place where she could process difficult emotions, find peace, and discover strength she never knew she possessed.

Trail running didn't just change her life—it helped save it.

Every climb, every early morning training session, and every mile on the trail serves as a reminder of how far she has come. What once felt impossible has become reality, and standing on the starting line of the UTMB OCC is proof that recovery, growth, and transformation are possible.

Together, Joseph and Dawn are not chasing podiums or prize money. They are chasing possibility.

They are proving that age is not a limitation, that recovery is possible, that mental health struggles do not have to define your future, and that ordinary people can achieve extraordinary things when they refuse to give up on themselves.

Funds raised will help cover travel to France, lodging during altitude acclimation, transportation, nutrition, race expenses, and the essential gear required to compete safely in one of the world's most iconic trail running events.

Your support is about more than helping two runners get to a race. It is an investment in a story of perseverance, friendship, recovery, resilience, and the belief that it is never too late—and you are never too broken—to chase a dream.

Thank you for being part of our journey.
