Hi, my name is Olya.
For many years I struggled with severe panic attacks and bipolar disorder. There was a time when I couldn't stay alone, couldn't breathe normally, couldn't think clearly, and couldn't work. Every day felt like a battle just to make it through.
During that season, painting became the only thing I felt capable of doing...and after 30 minutes of working with color I could slowly breathe again and begin to feel hope.
Because of my illness all my relationships gradually felt apart. It was very difficult season for both me and my family and eventually I lost almost everything.
During years of my illness and loneliness I wasn't creating art for galleries or for social media. I simply picked up a brush and chose a color. Sometimes it was red, sometimes blue, sometimes white. Color by color, I was pulling myself out of my own inner darkness. Looking back, I understand that it was a form of art therapy that helped me survive one day at a time.
At that time, I didn't yet know God.
I was born in the Soviet Union, where religion had been suppressed for generations. When I was a teenager, the country collapsed, and millions of families, including mine, faced years of uncertainty and poverty. Looking back, I realize that my search for hope began long before I even knew I was searching for God.
Today, looking back on my journey, I believe it was Jesus Christ who saved my life. I also believe that my mother's prayers carried me through seasons when I could no longer carry myself. Every painting I create is an expression of gratitude—for the light that found me when I was lost, and for the hope that continues to guide my life.
Later, when I found my way to the Orthodox Christian faith, I realized that even in those darkest moments He had never abandoned me. I couldn't see it then, but He was gently leading me through every brushstroke, every sunrise, every day that I thought I wouldn't survive.
Today I continue to paint, but my paintings carry a different purpose. I want them to bring hope, peace, and light to people who may be walking through their own darkness. If my story reminds even one person that they are not alone, then every difficult step has had meaning.
Today I am asking for help with humility. Your support will help me build my art business, create a professional website, continue sharing this message of hope through my paintings, and move toward financial independence. Thank you for taking the time to read my story, for your kindness, your prayers, and your support.
Every act of compassion becomes part of someone else's healing.
