As many of you might now from social media, our big goofy, jelly jeweled boy pulled a Kool-Aid man through our front window and was badly injured.  Elwood had a 5 hour long procedure at Bluegrass Veterinary Hospital in Lexington KY to repair torn tendons, multiple deep lacerations, many in his muscle bed and some the bone.  Our brave boy made it through the process but is not out of the woods. There is fear that if the tendons do not heal or circulation isn't good, he would need to have his leg amputated.  In order to give him the best chance for healing, we opted to utilize hyper basic oxygen therapy twice a week for 3 weeks to get improved circulation, super oxygenated blood to his wounds which accelerates healing.

Thankfully, we have CareCredit and have been able to cover expenses to get the care as quickly as possible, but his total bill is enough to put a down payment on a a small home. We are asking for help to mitigate some of the debt to something more manageable.

I have never been one to ask for help for myself but I would crawl through all the broken glass to help him so here I am, asking my community for a leg up.

We appreciate all the love and support our circle has given us and love you all righ back.  We will keep everyone updated on his progress.

This week, Elwood ripped out his stitches on two different occasions so we had to run him back to the ER.  They added a new antibiotic for him but we have since learned that Costco can fill his meds and it saved us about $60! He is very restless and wants to start moving more but is still on strict rest.  We appreciate all the love for our jelly jowels.

Today, Elwood had his first hyperbaric treatment. It seemed to significantly decrease his discomfort and he finally 💩!  He still needs his drains until at least Wednesday. His next hyperbaric treatment is Wednesday morning and then we follow up with our regular vet, Dr. Godman at 6pm that day.  Keep those fingers and toes crossed for us! Big jelly jowel kisses from him to you.

Today, Elwood had his pain patch removed so we are hoping he will be less loopy.  He still has quite a bit of fluid build up so his drains stay in until his appointment with his primary care doctor Wednesday. The techs were all amazed about how well he was walking so we are very hopeful about that! Tomorrow he has his first hyperbaric oxygen therapy at 9am which we hope will help super charge his healing process.  He slept through the night. He hasn't had much of an appetite today and still isn't wanting water but will eat ice chips.  We are all preparing for a little nap after such an early start to the day.  He won't let me leave his side for long so today is going to be slow and steady.  Russell will be working on repairing the window.  Thank you again to everyone who has helped so far! We feel your love and it gives us hope. 🥰

Elwood had a visit from Mamaw and Alexis today and managed to wag his tail even with all the pain medications. He was able to put pressure to walk on foot steadily during potty time so we are hopeful. We go tomorrow to get his a pain patch removed and to have his drains inspected. Monday, we start hyperbaric oxygen therapy which have almost been covered through all your donations! We are so lucky to have such doggone good friends. Big jelly jowel boops will be in order once Elwood is feeling better.
