Life has thrown quite the curveball my way. Living here in Buffalo, you'd think that every landlord would understand the importance of keeping a place warm during our harsh winters. Unfortunately, my landlord refuses to fix the heat in my apartment. In a desperate attempt to get some action, I withheld rent. Now, I've caught up on the payments, but the heat remains unfixed. To top it off, I've received a 14-day notice to vacate. It's a tough spot, juggling everything while ensuring my kids feel secure and cared for.
The stress of potentially not having a roof over my head weighs heavily, especially with my children relying on me. I find myself lying awake at night, planning and hoping for solutions. It's challenging to stay strong when you're worried about your kids' comfort and safety. Worry constantly bubbles just below the surface, but I remind myself to take it one day at a time for their sake.
Reaching out for support isn’t easy, but it's a necessary step right now. Family and friends have been wonderful, offering moral support and a listening ear, but the financial burden of moving and finding a new place where my kids can feel at home is overwhelming. Asking for help feels vulnerable, but I believe in the kindness of our community and that together, we'll find a way through this challenging time.
