my name is shauni, and I was diagnosed with a rare endocrine disorder called Addison’s Disease which is also an autoimmune disease.
treatment is expensive as is, but I have ran into an issue of being able to afford the fees of being a new patient with a new endocrinologist I have found. I am needing to pay approximately $2000 just to even have my information reviewed and if I am accepted a new patient. From then on, it’s just paying for medications and co-pays. It’s the “starting out” that’s become financial struggle.
but it is more affordable than being a self pay patient and traveling to Oklahoma for doctors appointments like what the former plan looked like but unfortunately that physician does not accept my insurance that I was able to obtain through the state, so if I were to want to see the physician in Oklahoma I would have to be self pay patient on top of having to pay for traveling expenses.
this is my last resort, and last hope. If I am unable to get established with an endocrinologist I am risking my health and even my life. I am hoping to be able to pay this doctor the fee so I can see him and become his patient, and stay local!
