Help Produce “Stop Kiss” - a heart wrenching play by Diana Son

Support a group of budding young artists produce an incredibly relevant work of art.

The Show

What starts as an innocent friendship between Callie and Sara quickly blossoms into something much more. Weaving through past and present, playwright Diana Son crafts a tender story that is as profound as it is heart-wrenching. In a bold exploration of passion, personal lives, and pain, “Stop Kiss” shows us what unending love really looks like.

“Stop Kiss” was published in 1999 and remains incredibly relevant today. This story juxtaposes the two extremes of falling for someone and facing the bitter truth of what it would feel like to lose them. This story manages to meld a story-book-like love story with the truth of the violence that the queer community has faced, and continues to face.

Loose Cannon will present “Stop Kiss” November 20-23, 2025 in The Beatrice Theatre at Bramble Arts Loft. We cannot wait to share this striking piece of art with you.

Why This Show Now?

“I was moved not only by the easy flow of writing, but by how beautifully Diana Son captured the emotions of budding queer love… how scary it can be to live as your authentic self, when you are unsure what that even means, as well as her display of the terrible reality of the higher rates of violence that lesbians are subjected to.

I am inspired to tell this story because behind a statistic, every data point, is a person. There is so much more to someone than the trauma inflicted upon them. They are more than a statistic. To remind us all that, although love can seem confusing and even disorienting, it will always be something worth fighting for. This play is to honor the legacy of those who came before us, who fought for our right to exist.

- Jaiden Lindsey, Director

What is Loose Cannon?

We’re Loose Cannon! We are a production company made up of three young producers that met studying acting in downtown Chicago at Roosevelt University. During our time in undergrad, we found ourselves falling in love with characters and scripts and having no outlet to share them with the world outside of our peers. Hungry for a chance to see these stories come to life and impatient with waiting for someone else to give us permission, we decided to try our hand in producing theatre.

In what feels like an absolute whirlwind of passion, creativity, and constant evolution, we are approaching the presentation of our fourth production and third season of theatre making.

What We Need And How It Will Be Used

We are aiming to raise $4000 this time around. This number can seem daunting, but each and every donation, no matter how large or modest, will make an immense impact on our ability to reach our goal.

Your donations will help us with:

  • Paying each of our actors and designers
  • Production materials - costumes, curtains, clip lights, you name it!
  • Promoting our event - posters, boosted social media posts, press
  • Purchasing rights, a performance space, event insurance

Other Ways You Can Help

  • Come to our fundraising events! (listed below)
  • Volunteer to help with the events (collecting tickets at the door, helping prep food, drink, or art for our fundraising events, help moving into the theatre)
  • Help distribute fliers around the city
  • Follow us on Instagram (@loosecannonchicago) and share our posts on your story
  • Tell your friends! Word of mouth is incredibly powerful.

Come Celebrate With Us

Loose Cannon will be hosting various fundraising events in preparation for the launch of this project. Check back in on this page as updates will be posted here as the events are finalized OR find us on Instagram where these events will also be promoted.

Thank you Thank you Thank you for supporting local theatre.
