Hello, my name is Nia Trent, and I’m reaching out for help during the most devastating and life-changing time of my life.
What began in 2021 as a loving act — carrying a child for a family who longed to become parents — turned into a four-year nightmare that has left me physically broken, emotionally traumatized, and buried under debt I can no longer manage alone.
I have always taken pride in being strong, independent, and able to provide for myself and my son. I’ve been a surrogate before and cherished helping families grow. But this time… everything went wrong.

My Story: A Surrogacy That Turned Into Abuse
In 2021, I agreed to be a surrogate for a couple through an agency I trusted. I thought I was doing something beautiful. Instead, the agency failed to properly screen the intended parents, and I walked straight into a situation that became mentally, emotionally, and financially abusive.
During the pregnancy:
• The intended parents controlled every aspect of my medical care
• They harassed my doctors
• They impersonated me to access my confidential medical records
• They made false accusations of drug use, forcing me to undergo repeated drug tests — all of which were clean
• They questioned everything about me, treated me like property, and created constant fear and stress
The emotional abuse became so severe that it started affecting my health.

Life-Threatening Medical Complications
In September 2022, I was diagnosed with placenta accreta, a life-threatening pregnancy condition where the placenta grows too deeply into the uterus. My doctors were extremely concerned.
But instead of supporting me, the intended parents:
• Refused to let me get a second medical opinion
• Stopped paying my insurance premiums, knowing I was at risk
• Left me powerless to advocate for my own safety
My condition worsened, and every day felt like a countdown.

The Day Everything Changed: September 21, 2022
On September 21, 2022, I underwent an emergency delivery that turned into a fight for my life.
I needed:
• A C-section
• A full hysterectomy
• Blood transfusions
• Emergency resuscitation
• Hours of surgery
I almost didn’t survive.
While I was still cut open on the operating table, the intended parents grabbed the baby and abandoned me — no call, no support, nothing.
And because they had stopped paying for my insurance, I woke up to the reality that I now owed $165,000 in medical bills for the procedures that saved my life.
I also lost the ability to ever have children again.
A part of me was taken that day — physically and emotionally.
⸻
The Aftermath: Debt, Job Loss, and Starting Over
After surgery, I wasn’t just left with trauma — I was left with nothing.
• My insurance was terminated.
• I couldn’t get the required physical to return to work.
• I lost my job.
• I lost my income.
• I lost my independence.
• I lost the chance to ever have more children.
For the first time in my life, I had to move back in with my mother just to care for myself and my young son.
I have spent four years fighting this situation legally, medically, and emotionally — with attorney bills from multiple lawyers, endless paperwork, and years of stress that have drained everything I had.
I am overwhelmed, exhausted, traumatized, and simply trying to survive.

How You Can Help
I am raising funds to:
• Pay off my $165,000 medical debt
• Cover basic living expenses for myself and my son while I rebuild
• Pay outstanding attorney fees from fighting this case for four years
• Afford therapy to heal from the trauma and loss
Anything helps — every dollar brings me closer to stability and peace.
⸻
Why Your Support Means Everything
This surrogacy journey cost me:
• My health
• My womb
• My job
• My financial stability
• Four years of my life
• And the emotional peace I once had
I am sharing my story not only to survive, but to shed light on what can happen when surrogates aren’t protected, screened properly, or treated as human beings.
Your compassion and support will help me start over and finally begin to heal.
