Hello everyone,
This is my best friend Mckenly. She and I have been best friends for 16 years, and I consider her my sister. She has epilepsy. For those of you who may not know what that is, it is a seizure disorder of the brain. She has grand mal seizures (she is unconcious and convulses), focal seizures (body is frozen, but she is alert and aware), etc. She had a majorly invasive brain surgery 3 days ago.
She has been through so much over the years, and sustained many injuries such as broken bones, bruises, bloody wounds, and so much more. The doctors told her that this surgery may be her last and only chance to become seizure free. That is the hope. It is unkown at the current moment of time the success of the procedure, but time will hopefully tell.
As you can all imagine, surgery is expensive, but brain surgery? It can cost $100,000 and more. Her mother is the strongest woman I know. As a hard-working, single-mom, she has always put Mckenly first. She has had to navigate a lot of this by herself, and doesn't have much financial support from anyone else. My goal here is to just give her something back, even if it's only offers a very small relief. I want her to know that she is not alone, and that communities can really do amazing things.
If you can donate anything, it would be forever appreciated, and go towards the endless medical bills that her mother will be paying off for a very long time.
Mckenly has a long road to recovery, and her mother, sister, and I will be there every step of the way.
Thank you for reading her story <3
