We are nursing friends of a amazingly kind and selfless woman by the name of Laura. She has been a Sonoma County resident for most, if not her whole life and I has worked in mental health since 1989 as a medication nurse, psychiatric technician to be specific.
A while back, we are not sure how long ago, Laura was dignosed with skin cancer which she and her doctors were treating. Then this last March she was first diagnosed with lung cancer and since then the cancer has been identified to be an aggresive form of metastactic lung cancer. This last May she was scheduled to have surgery to remove, what the doctor's believed to be one tumor, but instead they found three. All three tumors were removed from her lungs and they needed to remove two lymph nodes with growths on them as well, During the surgery the doctors continued to find spots on her liver and with the latest PET scan, cancer was found to possibly be in her nasal cavity. The doctors are not sure the two spots on her liver are cancerous. They are still doing tests.
Laura since has received her latest pathology report which reflects that she will require both radiation and chemotherapy. Laura will not be able to work while she is fighting this cancer and she struggles with pain, fatigue, and depression has set in as you can imagine. She needs your help and she is not the kind to ask for it herself. If we had the kind of money she needs for living expenses and medical bills, we would give it to her. The $10,000 we are asking to be raised might be just a small portion of what she could need in the future, but it is a start that will allow her to concentrate on getting better instead of whether or not she will be able to keep a roof over her head.
