This is our son son Ethan 'Koda' Dodds. He was an amazing energy whose light burned out too soon. Koda was a bright young student attending Adams State University with the hopes of entering the field of psychology. He had an electrifying personality and an outlook on life that was almost as colorful as his hair. He had an affection for cooking and loved being of service to others while in the kitchen.
For all the wonderful things that he did for others and all the ways he strived to serve his community, he battled silently with substance abuse and addiction. Koda found a small glimpse of light at a treatment center in Alamosa, Colorado - Hope in the Valley. The treatment, education and support that he received at Hope in the Valley helped Koda enjoy many months of sobriety and he even served alongside the kitchen staff at Hope in the valley, serving other addicts and those who struggled with depression and substance abuse. His heart of service was beaming and the clients always enjoyed his infectious smile, his positive outlook on life, and his exotic taste in music.
Unfortunately, Koda lost his battle to addiction and finally succumbed to his last fight...
We, Chad and Ann Dodds, the parents of Ethan 'Koda' have created this fundraiser as a memoriam for his legacy and his support of Hope in the Valley. While he lost his battle with his addiction, he truly believed in the services that are provided from this treatment center. He loved the work they did and he supported it until his very last breath. We would like anyone who feels compelled to contribute to his memory to please consider a donation to benefit the work that Hope in the Valley does.
They are a non-profit full-scale residential treatment center that serves the San Luis Valley in Southern Colorado and beyond. They are the only full service treatment center in the San Luis Valley that offers a clinical withdrawal management health center, a vigorous 30-day residential treatment program, partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient programs, telehealth services, recovery groups, and so much more.
It is our desire that our son continue to let his light shine through the work that Hope in the Valley does. We ask that you consider giving a donation in his memory to the wonderful work that Hope in the Valley does everyday so that others will have a chance at long-term recovery and so that maybe another parent will not have to experience this loss like we have.
