My name is Jacqueline, and I am creating this fundraiser for my husband’s mother, who is currently hospitalized in Russia after suffering her third stroke on August 19, 2026.
Her second stroke happened only a few weeks earlier, on July 27, 2026, and her first stroke occurred after the passing of her husband, my husband’s father. After this most recent stroke, she is experiencing numbness in her right arm and part of her right leg, and our family is extremely worried about what comes next.
This has been especially difficult for my husband because he is thousands of miles away and cannot safely return to Russia because of his asylum circumstances He came to the United States about four years ago and has worked hard to build a life here, taking jobs repairing appliances, doing Instacart, and whatever other work he could find to make ends meet.
While he was living in the United States, his father became very ill and eventually passed away. Because he could not safely return to Russia, my husband was unable to be there with his father or even go home to pay his respects.
Now he is facing that same helpless feeling again as his mother struggles with the effects of three strokes, including two within only a few weeks of each other.
My husband has a brother, but because of his brother’s own circumstances, he is not currently able to provide the level of care their mother may need. My husband desperately wants to make sure she receives the best care possible, even though he cannot physically be by her side.
Unfortunately, we are also struggling financially. I lost my job on July 30 2026, and right now most of what we earn goes toward rent, past-due bills, and basic living expenses. We simply do not have the financial ability to cover the medical care, rehabilitation, medications, caregiving, transportation, and other support she may need during her recovery.
But she is so much more than what she is going through medically.
She is an incredible mother of two sons, an animal lover, and a devoted cat mom to two cats. She is warm, outgoing, loving, and the kind of person who can talk to anyone she meets. She is truly a social butterfly.
Even though she speaks very little English and I speak very little Russian, she always finds a way to tell me how much she loves me and how happy she is that her son found someone who loves him.
We have talked many times about her someday coming to the United States. She has told me about the Russian dishes she wants to teach me how to make, and I have looked forward to finally having the chance to spend real time with her here, safe and surrounded by family.
I desperately want her to recover. I want my husband to have more years with his mom. I want her to regain as much strength and independence as possible, and I want us to have the chance to make those memories together.
I am organizing this fundraiser from the United States. Donations will be received through our U.S. account and used to help support her care and recovery in Russia.
Any money raised will go toward her medical needs, rehabilitation, medications, caregiving, transportation, and other expenses related to her recovery.
