My sister’s house burned down after a neighbor’s firework went astray. Herself, daughter, and 3 granddaughters all made it out safely, but they have lost everything to the flames and the water used to extinguish them. They are a low income family and are currently struggling with finding suitable and safe housing in the Twin Cities of Minnesota. My sister is disabled and was helping her daughter and granddaughters out of a domestic violence situation, but now they are all homeless. The girls (4, 3, and 3 months) are traumatized from their ordeal and not having their own place to feel safe in. My sister has spent her lifetime helping people out of bad situations. Her home and heart have always been a place of refuge for many. Now she is in need and I want to be able to help her. Being the one in need is a very uncomfortable feeling for her which is why I’m reaching out on her behalf. I wish to help her acquire and furnish a new home that she can make into a safe haven as she is known to do. Currently they are bouncing around between family and hotels as they are applying for housing, paying application fees, and trying to accumulate deposits.
