Hello!
I am Bea Millan-Windorski and I am incredibly honored to represent my home state of Wisconsin at the Miss Earth USA 2024 competition. I am an honors student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where I double major in History and International Relations with certificates in Southeast Asian Studies, French, and Political Science.
I work with several local organizations that serve the needs of local Hmong and Rohingya refugee populations in Madison and Milwaukee. I also want to use my platform to highlight that despite climate disasters displacing three times as many people as armed conflict since 2008, people displaced by climate disasters do not fall under the current definition and protections of refugee status. The fight for climate justice and the fight for the rights and dignity of refugees are intersectional.
I am proud to be the daughter of an immigrant and I accordingly want to use my platform to promote the protection and needs of people seeking safety and a better life.
I hope to one day become a diplomat, I speak Filipino, French, and I am learning Bahasa Indonesian. I have aspirations to work for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. I have extensive experience in international affairs and held a fellowship with the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines and an internship with the East-West Center in Washington, D.C.
Beauties for a Cause is a 501(c)3 organization committed to empowering women, addressing climate change, and supporting mental health initiatives.
Maraming salamat po, terima kasih, merci beaucoup, thank you very much for supporting my #BeautiesForACause campaign.
