Hey, Everybody!
I am writing this today with heavy heart, as my dear friend Tara's family is currently facing eviction, and we are running out of options.
Her father passed away four years ago, and since then, Tara and her mom have been using the money from his insurance to pay off debt. It has been an immense struggle for them to keep up with the barest minimum of bills, rent especially. Tara's mother had to go back to work part-time after being retired from the school system for 25 years. According to Social Security Administration, she worked over the hours allowed her for part-time work while being able to still receive the benefits she had been paying into her whole, working life. Social Security has cut Tara's mother's check down to half of what it should be, when she has received a check at all! This has forced the family to fall behind in rent to the point of no return. These two ladies have worked so very hard to provide a stable home for Tara's 9-year old daughter who is diagnosed with PTSD. They are now completely overwhelmed with the sudden move they have to make in two weeks.
You read that right: They only have two weeks to come up with the money they did not already have, find a safe affordable place, and physically get moved into it.
Tara has exhausted every community avenue in terms of finding financial assistance. In all instances, the sources are out of funds until after the first of the year. She has reached out to churches, listings on the 211 site... No one is in a position to help through traditional means, and the situation is at obvious crisis level!
If you are able to help, all funds will go towards the rent and security deposit of a new home. If unable to help at this time, PLEASE SHARE... and I mean A LOT. Thank you for any help you can be in this matter.
Love, Kir
