Carol was a trailblazer, breaking barriers, and shattering glass ceilings throughout her life. Carol, born in 1932, attended high school in Wichita, KS and graduated in the upper 10% of her class at the age of 16.

Carol achieved a remarkable milestone as one of the first woman of color to graduate with a business degree in accounting from Wichita State University. Her academic, professional, and civic accomplishments include the American Legion Citizenship Award, D.A.R. American History Award, WSU Advisor of the Year, 30 Year Service Award – H&R Block, and the 25 Year Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Member Award.

She set an example for future generations, proving that determination and resilience can overcome any obstacle. She inspired countless young women, including the women in the family, to pursue their educational dreams and never back down in the face of adversity.

Carol Ross passed away at age 91, but the legacy she leaves of  sisterhood, scholarship, and service should live on. The money raised, combined with contributions from our family, will begin the process of founding The Carol Ross Memorial Scholarship Fund to support young women of color achieve their dream of academic excellence in the field of business, specifically accounting.

Carol Ross will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her and the countless lives she touched.
