It's a big surgery for a 4 lb little pup. He was surrendered to Heavenly Angels with a heart murmur, that we soon discovered was not just a murmur. Patent Ductus Arteriosus is a birth defect that if not corrected, will quickly lead to an enlarged heart and Congestive Heart Failure. At almost ten months old, he has 85% chance to live to two years old.
Boddhi Bowie aka Bobo, will have open-chest surgery on May 24th at Animal Medical Center. Tests, consults and two echocardiograms thus far were paid by a friend of the rescue.
We will post the estimate as soon as we receive a copy of it, but the surgical team at AMC provided a range of $7200.
