It's been a great and wondrous adventure the last 73 years. I did it without any major medical or health issues, never had to take regular medications and studiously avoided hospitals and clinics. Well that adventure and the luck are now over. Ten days ago I was rushed to the emergency room after five days of excruciating pain with a perforated bowel from an e.coli infection. I was shuttled between two hospitals because the surgery need to be immediate or I would not survive the next few hours. Surgery went well as expected but complications kept me in the hospital for seven days. And I do not have health insurance. I repeat, I did not have any health insurance. The result is not only a massive hospital/ambulance bill, but since I have no way to pay further, I can't get the follow up care I desperately need.
For the last 12 years I have served my community as selflessly as possible and I have given all of my time and treasure to make it happen. I founded a nonprofit community FM radio station, a concert hall, and an emergency broadcast system for our city. Over time I have helped numerous non profits raise money. I've helped dozens of businesses get grants and funding, helped over 500 citizens through their FEMA and appeals paperwork for hurricane damage, and I have helped numerous people pro bono as a Board Certified Patient Advocate navigate the medical administrative jungle.. There are no regrets, it is what you do when called to serve.
I have always been here for you and now I need you to be here for me in my most desperate time..
I am asking for you to donate to my cause so I can heal and rebuild. I can't do this without you. Please help me.
