I went on vacation out of the country and had family coming in to check on my animals every 2 days. A nasty and retaliatory neighbor called animal control in my absence and claimed the animals were abandoned, (with feed bins full of 12 bags of food, 100 gallons of water, and back door to house open for them to sleep indoors.
The police came with animal control, claimed abandonment and entered the house taking all my animals that I had cultivated for security and special habitats when I retired on to acreage in the very near future, but took ill. When I returned the animal control had adopted out all but 4 dogs. I had 3 purebred mini pinschers, a grouping of rare orange sabre cats, who don't smell or shed and have bright orange coats with white circular swirls from head to toe, and a pack of purebred huskies, trained, and that could talk. Believe it or not, these were all rescue animals, of which I have rescued 50+ dogs and 25+ cats throughout my life, and started a state-funded cat spay and neuter program in Orange County, California, back in the day, when those programs were rare and first gaining awareness.
Now I need help of my own. I came back to the municipal shelter having accrued boarding fees for each animal, as well as tallied back licensing and late fees for 8 years. What they did is take the oldest animal, assume they all were mine at the same time, and the bill is now $19,000 and accruing daily, with only 4 of my animals, dogs, left from the lot. The above was vindictive because the shelter director would not allow me to take the animals until paid in full, and would not give me payments, so I went over her head to the city manager. Where at my initial meeting with the shelter director the owed balance was approx $5000, when I went over her head, she went back 8 years and the bill became over $18,000....yes, this is really happening.
I am alone and my animals are my family. The problem is, that the city will eventually put the money on an income tax lien and soon I will have not even those 4 remaining animals because they have been in captivity for 3 months and this shelter has a staunch and infamous reputation for being a high kill shelter.
At present, I am humbly seeking rescues, rescuers, and animal lovers who could possibly donate in order to release my 4 leftover children from jail, impending doom and extermination.
It is clearly a vengeful situation and not even the city attorney will upturn the hardline position of the shelter director. Please help. It is timely and imperative in order to avert euthenasia.
