Our names are Micheal and Cassandra. We don't usually ask for any help. We believe in working hard to get what is needed and wanted. We've been encouraged to ask for help in our current circumstances.
During the early evening hours of a normal mundane day, our family suffered an uncalled-for tragedy. We currently rent an apartment and a separate garage. Our garage held many day-to-day items as well as family heirlooms.
The garage next to ours was in need of repairs (the garage door was missing) for a long period of time (about 8 months). Over this time period, there were mattresses, couches, and other things left for anyone to use. Many complaints were made to the property about the need to fix the garage door because people would use this garage as a shelter, party room, and hangout.
One dreadful night, a fire started in this garage and spread to a total of 8 garage units. The unit that my family rents was completely destroyed because it was directly next to the open unit. Our memories and our hard-earned articles, including a car for a daughter's 17th birthday, supplies and stock for a growing family business, and heirlooms from deceased family members, were lost.
We ask for any help that you feel in your heart to give. We are blessed that no one was hurt and feel blessed that we are able to move forward. Any help that is given will be used to pay immediate necessities and help fund lawyer fees to force the property to accept responsibility for their non-actions.
Thank you for anything, including positive thoughts during this hard time.
