Hi everyone, my name is Hope. I am 60 years old, and exactly 28 days ago, my life completely changed when I had to undergo emergency colostomy surgery. I am launching this fundraiser because the physical recovery has left me unable to work, and the financial weight of rent, food, and medical bills has become too heavy to carry alone. I underwent a major, life-altering emergency colostomy surgery. I have uploaded pictures of my colostomy bag, my stoma, and my surgical staples to this page. I am sharing these deeply personal photos because I want to be completely transparent about the physical reality of what I am surviving right now. My body is trying to heal from a massive procedure, and I am completely unable to work or stand for long periods. Because of my employment situation before the surgery, I do not qualify for unemployment benefits. Every single one of my credit cards is completely maxed out from buying initial post-op supplies, and I have zero income coming in. The hospital bills are staggering, but my immediate emergency is basic survival. I am currently unable to afford my rent, buy groceries, or pay for the daily colostomy supplies that keep me safe from infection.
