My name is Zaakiya Graham and I have had the joy of working with ROSEBUDS & MASTERS Mentoring program for several years. Our mission is to empower girls and boys to achieve greatness and to invest in their communities by strengthening them one neighborhood at a time.
Our Vision is for girls and boys to realize their full potential by believing in themselves and knowing they are destined to succeed.
R.O.S.E.B.U.D.S. Mentoring Program was founded in 2001 by Charlotte Marshall Murray out of a need for young girls to have a venue where they could speak openly and freely about issues that were affecting them. Since its inception Mrs. Murray has witnessed numerous girls grow into productive women who are college graduates with rewarding and fulfilling careers. Topics are addressed via workshops and various outings. In conjunction to workshops and outings ROSEBUDS also has a desire to give back to their community by assisting those in need.
Charlotte has been doing this on her own with her own money and a little help and support from friends. We have tried to get grants over the years but as of yet have only received one small one. We applied for several grants for our upcoming program year and have not been awarded any of them. This year we are also having a 3 day seminar on Domestic Violence focusing on awareness& advocacy, with an emphasis on fostering healthy relationship in our youth. We had promises of financial donations to help put on this event from individuals, but due to various reasons some have now reneged. We desperately need immediate finances for deposits for event space and catering services. We have been soliciting for sponsors for months but so far only one has come through. We would be extremely grateful if you are able to become a sponsor at any level of support. All donations, big or small (every dime helps), are also welcome.
