Kham Suan worked in the logging industry near the Thai border. Due to covid, there were no jobs for elephants and she was chained in the woods the majority of the time. The owner could not afford to keep her and asked for Elephant Sanctuary Laos to take her in. She arrived in October 2021 with Kham Mone and her daughter Suk Dee.

When Kham Suan first came to Laos, she didn’t know what to do with the freedom and was quite overwhelmed. Now she has settled into her space and enjoys being an amazing nanny to Suk Dee.
