As some of you know, I’ve been in the process of starting a nonprofit to bring awareness to the rapidly growing homeless population in Tampa and the surrounding communities.
The purpose of “The Live to Give Foundation” is to advocate for, support, provide resources and help rehabilitate people in transition (specifically in the homeless community) through fellowship, faith, mentorship and education.
Most people don’t realize that the Tampa-St. Petersburg metropolitan area has the highest rate of homelessness in the nation (according to the National Alliance to End Homelessness in a report issued earlier this year)… Sadly I have witnessed this crisis firsthand, and the immense lack of assistance and community initiative is heartbreaking.
Over the past 6 months, I have had the chance to meet and help many people experiencing homelessness, but most importantly, I’ve had the opportunity to hear their stories and get to know them as individuals - I consider it a privilege to now call them friends (or as I like to say, my “homies”)….
In honor of those in need, I have planned a Thanksgiving feast this Thursday to host 20-30 of my “homies” who otherwise wouldn’t have a home-cooked meal or family to spend the holiday with. I pray that you will find it in your heart to help me fund this amazing opportunity to be a blessing to others during this season of gratitude and giving.
Any amount would be truly appreciated and put toward a beautiful cause.
*The funds received will go toward the cost of food, plates, cutlery, cooking supplies, etc.; rides to and from the park where dinner will be served and miscellaneous donations for immediate needs (such as winter clothing and hygiene essentials).
