I never imagined that one interview would change the trajectory of my artistic career.

This year, I took a leap of faith and auditioned for the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. A world-renowned acting conservatory that accepts only six artists into its intensive full-time program. To my surprise, I was accepted AND awarded a scholarship. This still doesn't feel real.

For many people, this might seem like a career change. But to me, it feels like the natural next step in the work I've already been doing. I've always considered myself a storyteller first. Illustration, murals, writing, and now acting are simply different languages I use to tell stories that center Black queer life, Caribbean history, and imagination. This next chapter builds on that foundation.

This conservatory will give me the opportunity to invest full-time into my acting training, work with industry professionals, learn ensemble work, and collaborate with other actors and artists. These experiences will only deepen my creative practice for current and upcoming projects in the near future.

While I received scholarship support, I still need to raise $18,000 over the next 60 days (as of June 19th) to cover my remaining tuition, housing, and living expenses while I study.

It's a big goal, and asking for this kind of support is intimidating and deeply vulnerable. If 500 people each give $36, we'll reach this goal together. Whether you're able to give $10, $36, $100, or simply share this campaign, every act of support helps move this dream forward.

Over the next 60 days, I'll be celebrating this campaign through a series of community events:

• A live table reading from Dolsie with actors bringing the story to life

• An art workshop inspired by archival storytelling and memory

• A small performance of scenes

More details on the events coming soon.

I hope one day you'll sit in an audience, open my graphic novel, or watch a performance knowing that you helped make it possible.

Thank you for believing in artists. Thank you for believing in me. I can't wait to show you what comes next.
