Hi, my name is Aly Wick, and I’m from Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. I am fundraising for my dear friends, the Zayed family, who are currently trapped in Gaza and facing ongoing hardship, displacement, and loss.
Below are the heartfelt words of Mohammad Abu Zayed, 26, who serves as the sole caregiver for his entire family:
“My name is Mohammad Abu Zayed, 26, from the Gaza Strip in Palestine. My family and I are living in extremely difficult conditions because of the war and blockade.
We have lost our home, our work, and all means of livelihood. Every day, we struggle to secure the most basic needs — food, clean water, and medicine.
Our family consists of five people, including two elderly relatives who are very sick and urgently need ongoing medication and treatment.
My mother, 58, suffers from chronic illness and severe back and neck pain. My sister requires monthly medical treatment that costs $500, and I have no income at all. I care for my parents and my sisters, all of whom depend on me.
Despite everything, I try every day to provide for my family. I ask anyone with a kind heart to help us during this difficult time. Your support, no matter how small, can make a real difference in our lives.”
The Zayed family has endured displacement, unemployment, medical crises, and persistent danger. Yet Mohammad continues to shoulder every responsibility with strength and love.
Through this fundraiser, we hope to help the family access:
-
🏚️ Safe shelter
-
🍞 Daily food
-
💧 Clean water
-
💊 Medication & medical treatment
-
🎒 Support for the children’s education
-
🚐 Travel costs if they are displaced again
-
👕 Basic necessities like clothes, shoes, blankets, and hygiene items
This support is not simply financial —
it is a lifeline for a family with nowhere else to turn.
From Aly:
I am an active member of my local community and Bookstagram, and I’ve founded several nonprofit initiatives focused on trauma support and literacy in Cincinnati. I believe deeply in compassion, justice, and standing with families who are suffering through no fault of their own. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.
Please donate if you can, and please share this family’s story.
Your voice and generosity truly have the power to change lives.
Thank you to everyone who chooses to stand with the Zayed family in their time of crisis.
