Hi, my name is Aly Wick, and I’m from Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. I am fundraising for my dear friends, the Zayed family, who are currently trapped in Gaza and facing ongoing hardship, displacement, and loss.

Below are the heartfelt words of Mohammad Abu Zayed, 26, who serves as the sole caregiver for his entire family:

“My name is Mohammad Abu Zayed, 26, from the Gaza Strip in Palestine. My family and I are living in extremely difficult conditions because of the war and blockade.

We have lost our home, our work, and all means of livelihood. Every day, we struggle to secure the most basic needs — food, clean water, and medicine.

Our family consists of five people, including two elderly relatives who are very sick and urgently need ongoing medication and treatment.

My mother, 58, suffers from chronic illness and severe back and neck pain. My sister requires monthly medical treatment that costs $500, and I have no income at all. I care for my parents and my sisters, all of whom depend on me.

Despite everything, I try every day to provide for my family. I ask anyone with a kind heart to help us during this difficult time. Your support, no matter how small, can make a real difference in our lives.”

The Zayed family has endured displacement, unemployment, medical crises, and persistent danger. Yet Mohammad continues to shoulder every responsibility with strength and love.

Through this fundraiser, we hope to help the family access:

  • 🏚️ Safe shelter

  • 🍞 Daily food

  • 💧 Clean water

  • 💊 Medication & medical treatment

  • 🎒 Support for the children’s education

  • 🚐 Travel costs if they are displaced again

  • 👕 Basic necessities like clothes, shoes, blankets, and hygiene items

This support is not simply financial —
it is a lifeline for a family with nowhere else to turn.

From Aly:
I am an active member of my local community and Bookstagram, and I’ve founded several nonprofit initiatives focused on trauma support and literacy in Cincinnati. I believe deeply in compassion, justice, and standing with families who are suffering through no fault of their own. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

Please donate if you can, and please share this family’s story.
Your voice and generosity truly have the power to change lives.

Thank you to everyone who chooses to stand with the Zayed family in their time of crisis.

— Aly & the Zayed family

Dear Friends, Happy Holidays to you!

I would like to ask you for a small favor. If it is possible, I am only asking for help in collecting $500. I am going through an extremely difficult period, and everything has piled up on me at once. I no longer know what to do.

All the money I currently have will go to paying the grocery store owner and the pharmacy, as I promised them. After that, only a very small amount will remain—barely enough for part of my sister’s medical tests.

Yesterday, my family and I ate only lentil soup without bread. I can’t afford to buy bread for my mother or my family. My mother spends long hours sitting over the fire cooking lentils for us, and from the bottom of my heart, I wish I could buy her a gas stove to ease her suffering. But if I do that, I won’t be able to provide food or buy the remaining treatments my sick sister, Israa, needs. This deeply worries my mother.

I feel completely helpless during this time, and every day the situation becomes harder. If I don’t pay the grocery store owner, I’m afraid he may threaten me again.

I truly ask you, from my heart, to do whatever you can for me and for my family. I am exhausted. I cry when I see my mother sitting in the cold to cook for us, with smoke and soot covering her face and chest. My heart breaks every time I see her like that.

Even I wish I could visit a doctor to treat my tooth, but poverty is cruel. I take painkillers and still cannot chew food because the pain is unbearable.

Please forgive me if my words are heavy. After God, I have no one but kind-hearted people like you. Thank you for your support and have a blessed and safe holiday.

From Mohammed:

"I thank everyone who offers any help, even just a kind word. I'm still trying to cover my family's basic needs, especially medical treatment and food. Any support - even a small amount - relieves a lot of our burden. Thank you to everyone who cares and supports us."

11/10/25 - From Mohammed:

"Thank you to everyone who has supported my family thus far. We are so grateful for your support. Monthly, we need money to survive, eat, drink, but also $500 for my sister's medical treatment and my shoes are falling apart.

Shoes here cost $80 for even a basic pair of sandals. I pray for your families every day and that you always have success and good health. Please do not forget us."

10/7/25 - On this day, the two year anniversary of the current genocide on Gaza, I implore you to keep this family in your heart and your giving.

The morale is low, the hunger pains are all-consuming, the sounds of bombs and drones deafening. This family still needs you, desperately.

Do not forget Gaza. Gaza does not forget you.
