Seawalls don't belong on the Wild and Scenic Myakka River in Sarasota Florida when there are better alternatives for shoreline protection. Together with a group of experts and a few friends, I've been challenging a seawall proposal for more than a year, and I've spent around twelve thousand dollars of my own. Now it is time to broaden the base of support to help pay my environmental attorney, for some of my experts, and other costs associated with this challenge. [Most of my experts are volunteering because of their personal commitment to the Myakka.] Please join me in setting a needed precedent on this unique river that the Florida Legislature thought "possesses outstandingly remarkable ecological, fish and wildlife, and recreational values which are unique in the State of Florida. These values give significance to the river as one which should be permanently preserved and enhanced for the citizens of the State of Florida, both present and future."
