My name is Winona, and I am reaching out for help as I fight to protect my daughter Lilyanna and myself in a custody battle against my abuser. Lilyanna is level 2 on the ASD spectrum and has no memory of her father. He abused me while I was pregnant with her and in front of her, and she suffered night terrors until two months after I was able to remove him from our lives. For four years, I have received emails from him that swing between apologies, admissions of abuse, and threats. Despite courts in New York telling him no twice, he continues to lie to the court and harass us. Our safety and livelihood are at stake every day.
Having a good lawyer is the only way I can ensure Lilyanna and I are protected from further harm. With court dates approaching quickly and no financial help from the other parents, I am struggling to secure the legal representation we desperately need. Extra funds for court haven’t been accessible to us, and this legal battle is putting a huge strain on our blended family of eight. I fear this is simply his way of still trying to control me, and it has nothing to do with Lilyanna’s well-being.
I have until April 10th to secure a lawyer, with court starting April 13th. Any support or encouragement you can offer would mean the world to us. Your help could make all the difference for Lilyanna and our family. Thank you for reading and for considering supporting us during this critical time.
