In the early morning hours of November 22, 2025, the Stover family’s world changed forever. Their son, 17-year-old Lucas Stover, was tragically killed in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 29 near the paper mill in Cantonment. The accident happened around 12:37 a.m., and despite every effort, Lucas did not survive.
Lucas was not just a teenager—he was a son, a friend, a brother, a teammate, and a young man with a spirit bigger than life itself. He had dreams, plans, and a heart that made everyone around him feel included. Those who knew him describe him as funny, kind, dependable, and full of energy. He was the kind of kid who would give you the shirt off his back, no questions asked.
Today, his parents, Kari and David Stover, are waking up to a reality that no mother and father should ever face. Losing a child is a pain that cannot be measured, explained, or healed with time alone. Their home feels quieter, heavier, and emptier without Lucas’s laughter and presence. The shock is still fresh, and the heartbreak is overwhelming.
As the Stover family navigates this unimaginable loss, they are also met with unexpected financial burdens. Funeral arrangements, memorial costs, time away from work, and the many hidden expenses that come with losing a loved one have all fallen suddenly onto their shoulders—during a time when they should only be focusing on grieving and holding each other up.
This GoFundMe has been created to support Kari and David in every way possible as they try to make it through the darkest chapter of their lives. Our goal is to ease the financial weight so they can take the time they need to mourn their son without the added stress of bills and expenses.
Every donation—no matter the amount—will go directly to:
• Funeral and memorial services for Lucas
• Burial or cremation costs
• Time off work for Kari and David as they grieve
• Any additional needs the family faces during this difficult time
If you cannot donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser so more people can learn about Lucas’s story and support this grieving family. Even a prayer, a kind message, or a simple share can make a difference.
Lucas’s life was cut tragically short, but his memory will never fade. He touched so many hearts in his 17 years here, and now it’s our turn to honor him by standing beside his family.
Please keep Kari, David, and everyone who loved Lucas in your thoughts and prayers as they face the unimaginable.
Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and support.
