Hello family, friends I know and new friends I have yet to meet. My name is Alexandra. I am a 25 year old proud Jewish woman living in Canada. I am currently raising funds to contribute towards a program volunteering in Israel. I want to offer my help with the relief efforts in this crisis and during this time of emergency. Your donation will help cover the cost of the program including my airfare. Masa Israel Journey is the organization I would be volunteering with; they are a very well-known and established organization that has been helping young Jewish individuals connect to Israel through various programs over the years.
So... why now?
To be honest, for years I have expressed no desire to go to Israel. But in the wake of October 7th, I have felt called to Israel to help in any way I can. At the same time, I have been feeling a strong urge to reconnect with Jewish culture and heritage. As we witness the staggering rise in Anti-Semitism all over the world, so many Jewish friends and family (myself included) have felt silenced, shunned, and targeted within our communities. At this time, there is nothing I would like more than to be inside the heart of our Jewish community and to help support them in their time of need.
As part of the program, I would be volunteering six times a week with a group of fellow volunteers in Tel-Aviv and the surrounding areas. There are many different assignments I could be engaged in, including: Packaging and preparing meals for displaced families and the elderly, many of whom have become refugees in their own country and unable to return to their homes in the north or kibbutzim in the south; working at educational centres with displaced families and helping with caretaking of young orphans who sadly lost their parents and family in the October 7th massacre; agricultural volunteering on farms who have been negatively affected or had their operations completely interrupted; and many more options as needed.

The Jewish community may be grieving and going through very dark times, however, the resilience of our people in Israel despite these hardships is an inspiration to me and for us all.
